Conducting Importance–Performance Analysis for Human–Elephant Conflict Management Surrounding a National Park in Vietnam

In this paper, we present a conceptual framework of human–elephant conflict (HEC) management embodying community aspects gleaned from the importance–performance analysis (IPA) for National Park in Vietnam. Nine approaches were proposed to prevent and mitigate HEC (HEC indicators), which six fell into different quadrants based on respective estimations farmer non-farmer respondents. Both levels importance performance (I-P) indicators are evaluated between among farmers non-farmers. Locals perceived all highly, but they thought its is poor. Third, confirm factors affecting locals’ participation behavior towards their demographics, awareness, terms HEC, perceptions HEC. Compared residents, recognized that strategy must focus building an insurance scheme implementing appropriate land use planning. The characteristics affect differentiation are: (1) higher income (2) farmers, (3) residents who would like participate scheme, (4) factors. Theoretical insights implications also addressed study.
